Somewhere Over My Head - Greyson Chance // EP Review

Greyson Chance has currently released three singles from the EP. The first single, Afterlife, was released on October 29, 2015. Hit & Run was released as the second single on February 5, 2016. The third and final single, Back On The Wall, was released on April 29, 2016. On February 1, 2016, Chance performed songs from his EP live in The Studio at Webster Hallin New York City. And now, you have his new EP, Somewhere Over My Head! Tracklist: 1. AFTERLIFE. Chance’s new single “Afterlife” is the first taste of his EP, Somewhere Over My Head, set for release in early 2016. For those who have not heard the artist’s vocal abilities since his Lady Gaga cover or “Waiting Outside the Lines” days, they will be pleasantly surprised. The 18-years-old sounds mature, confident and more in tune with his still-developing voice. Fives years does wonders for an aspring artist, don’t they? 2. BACK ON THE WALL. The new single “Back On the Wall” is another electronic dance pop jam. Unlike his previous efforts, on this song we can hear his full vocal range over the infectious synth melody. Lyric wise it is a typical love song. With a focus on relationship issues or more precisely the insecurity to ‘let it all go’ and ‘go with the flow’, the theme can be summed up in a single line ‘We want to feel emotion so let’s feel it’. 3. HIT & RUN. “Hit & Run” finds Chance facing a somber life alone as he struggles with internal conflicts between love and unattractive personality traits, traits that he is seemingly blaming his own father for. The artist is well aware of his flaws, but doesn’t seem to be owning up to them, as he watches his lover walk out his life. All of these realizations are supported by dark, moody, synthdriven production that acts as a counteractive balance to the narrative, personal lyrical content. 4. NO FEAR. 5. MORE THAN ME. Ugh, I’m so happy for the new EP, but... also I’m pretty sad because there are only 5 songs on the EP. we deserve more, but it’s okay:’) Source: Daily Playlist (on LINE)
